When I was 3 years old my grandmother (Oma) enrolled me in mommy and me recreational class. I have always had a lot of energy and couldn’t sit still, so it was the perfect fit. I have worked hard to balance gymnastics with my schoolwork, remaining focused when it comes to achieving my goals. Over the years my love for this sport grew, I have participated in gymnastics as part of a competitive team where I have earned many placements not only at the State Championships, and at the Regional Championships as well. My personal goal is to compete for a Division 1 College Gymnastics Team. Everyone can learn gymnastics and succeed; if you have a coach that believes in you. I have had the opportunity to have many coaches that instilled the passion in my earlier years for gymnastics, ones that take pride in seeing me move up in the competitive levels. I am training for the upcoming season as a Level 10, my training consists of 32 hours a week at World Class Gymnastic National Training Center. My coaches are Tami, Beka and Rex who have taught me so much that it is immeasurable. I am in the 9th grade attending public High School with placement in an AP programs as an A and A/B Honor Roll student. I have maintained the honor roll throughout my Elementary School years, Middle School and High School.
Riverview Gymnastics Center was where I started classes and moved onto Pre-team, and Team. I would stay at this gym for 8 years., competing Levels 4-6 with the support and patience of Coach Jami and Loni. It was here at this small recreational gym that I discovered the love of gymnastic. These coaches helped push me to achieve my personal goals, in ways that left a lasting impression at my young age. This was a thriving environment of respect, discipline and of course fun!!!! When the coaches decided to leave Riverview and coach at another gym, I was devastated to say the least. What would I do...followed them of course to Triple T Gymnastic Center and competed Level 7 with the coaches that I have trusted all these years. It was a transitional year for all of us and at the end of the season, I made the decision to transfer to a National Training Center and work towards fulfilling my dreams of becoming a college gymnast. I had outgrown my coaches and the gym. Did I have fears .... you bet. Going out and doing it afraid has helped me face the unknowns and the challenges
I am training at World Class Gymnastics in Newport News, Va. with a new team, new coaches and a much larger gym for Level 8 in 2017/2018. It was a fabulous year placing 3rd at the 2018 Virginia State Meet scoring a 37.975 AA placing on all events and taking 1st place on Bars as the 2018 Virginia State Champion. This qualified me for my first Regional Meet. I placed 2nd with a score of 38.00 AA, placing on all events. The first meet of the season for Level 8 was a success placing 1st on Vault, Bar, and Floor, 4th on Beam and placing 1st in the AA. The Rob-in Cone Memorial meet was amazing as we all got to meet Peng Peng Lee!! UCLA Gymnast with the perfect score 10.00. To be nominated as one of Top 10 GOTY Gymnast of the Year in 2018 was an honor.!!. I understand the persistence and dedication this requires, which I am willing to put in the work and time. Most of all I would like to Thank YOU for considering me.
As 2018/2019 season has ended, I've enjoyed every minute!!! The Virginia State Meet was a success placing 2nd AA 37.250 Level 9 Jr 13. Regionals was just as successful placing 1st AA 37.975 Level 9 Junior 4 for Region 7. This has qualified me for Eastern in Florida at which I placed 8th AA. For now, its training, training, and more training!! Can't wait to make more memories with my teammates and Coaches. I will always appreciate the strong support of gymnastics and the camaraderie it brings. Again, thank you for nominating once again this year as one of the Top 25 GOTY Gymnast of the year for 2019. Congrats to all others who were nominated!!!!
For 2019-2020 season we are faced with COVID epidemic, most all the meets were cancelled, and gyms were closed for months. Just as the season started in December 2019, I was on a roll, placing 1st place AA at 3 meets and 2nd place AA at 2 other meets before it was all halted. No States or Regionals, we would all be out of the gym with no estimated time of returning. My chances at placing higher at States and Regionals gone.... just like that! We would spend months conditioning at home.
2020/2021 Season (Covid) It's been a hardest year/season. Our gym was closed for 3 months during the Covid shut down that put all gymnast behind in training new skills. After going back to the gym an injury set me back, as my hip flexors required me to have physical therapy, with limited practice. Just as my groove is coming back, I tested positive for Covid and was out for an-other 2 weeks. It has been a tough 1st year as a Level 10. But with dedication and determination for the sport I love, it will all come together. Here’s to a virtual States meet for 2021.
